Fonda San Miguel in Austin is widely considered to be the birthplace of classic regional Mexican cuisine…40 years and counting for this iconic spot alive with color in our state capital! Chef/Co-Owner Miguel Ravago has been there since the beginning, and has his hands in it all.
Then, on down to San Antone for ‘La Maestra’ — my teacher — Blanca Aldaco and her restaurant for modern Mexican, Aldaco’s. Blanca is credited as being the first to bring Tres Leches Cake [above] to the Alamo City. It’s a recipe I’ve been attempting to get for more than a decade! We FINALLY have it for you this weekend… 😉
