A friendly foodie reminder- Hatch chile season is going strong, but it’s a short one! If you haven’t already had the chance to indulge — hop to it! Whether they’re stuffed, sautéed or fire-roasted, these famous green chiles by way of Hatch, New Mexico are only harvested once a year, and add a peppery punch to practically any dish, including dessert!
My friends at Central Market and H-E-B are huge proponents of the chiles with all nine Central Market stores across Texas currently hosting the 22nd Annual Hatch Chile Festival thru August 22nd. In addition to fun Hatch-themed cooking classes, there are daily in-store demos, a ton of tasty samples to try, plus an array of new, seasonal products to snatch up before they’re all gone!

H-E-B can help get your day going with these Hatch Sausage & Kale Frittata Muffins. Anyone on a health kick can still get their fix with chopped Hatch pepper sausage, leeks, kale and Gruyere cheese.
Or, for those with more time to sit and savor, H-E-B’s Hatch Pepper French Toast has ‘weekend brunch’ written all over it! It’s served with maple syrup, powdered sugar and a special roasted Fuji apple compote spread on top. What a tease!
For a snack that’s good any time of day with a meal or by itself — Hatch Green Chile Biscuits crowned with jalapeño pimiento cheese, compliments of Central Market.
CM also shared fixings for their piping hot Hatch Enchilada Pie with shredded chicken, our chiles and cheddar cheese layered between warm flour tortillas in a Hatch green chile enchilada sauce, as well as Hatch Cheesecake – you read correctly! – topped with a fabulous strawberry and Hatch chile chutney. It’s cheesecake with a kick!
