You’ll be glad you popped the top on the delicious Escargot Bordelaise at San Antonio’s newest downtown restaurant Le Midi. It’s French with a capital ‘F’. While the name implies ‘lunch’, bring your appetite. Dinner is hearty fare.
The escargot was one of my favorite dishes in a delicious red wine, mushroom and bacon broth. The mini stainless steel pot presentation was cute but also functional as it kept the little delicacies piping hot.
Another treat – the bacon wrapped monkfish. The wine list is simple and very approachable. I always ask Jean-Francois for his recommendation, and it’s always good!
But perhaps THE treat of the night was the sneak peak we got at Jean Francois’ new 3 month old baby – already dressed to the nines in his chef’s attire.
This is the second restaurant for owner Jean-Francois Poujol. Soleil Bistro, his first, is a little north side gem on Blanco Rd. Le Midi will be serving lunch sometime later this fall.
