Barcelona…what a colorful city. This is the first leg of our Mediterranean cruise that more than 100 of you are joining us on. Mike and I came a couple of days early to see the sites. We’re so glad we did!
Our hotel is the Westin Le Meridien in the heart of the city right on La Rambla. There’s tons of shopping, food …even portable ‘pet’ stores selling every bird imaginable… even roosters! Who buys a rooster that lives in the city? Wouldn’t your neighbors throw you out?
Maybe they’re just more tolerant here. Afterall, a naked guy sped by us on a bicycle – not a tan line to be found, so obviously, he’d done that before. Question is…where was he going and what happens when he gets there? My camera wasn’t fast enough to catch that one for you.
The food has been very good. We just shot a segment with one of the chef’s here at Cent Onze, the restaurant at Le Meridien. Chef Juan Camero gave us an amazing recipe for Paella…his mother’s recipe that has two secret ingredients I’ve never seen before. I’ll share them soon.
And of course, there’s the Spanish wine – so far, all wonderful and very reasonable. The whites from Penédes are inexpensive and very good. I’ll save my favs for you too.
