The New World Wine and Food Festival is less than two weeks away – time to make plans to try some wonderful wines and taste the harmony of good food and wine pairings.
The event kicks off on Wednesday, May 12, with Sip, Savor and Shop at The Shops at La Cantera and concludes Sunday with a family event, Totally Tejas, at the Rio Cibolo ranch.
There are plenty of wonderful events in between like the luncheon Friday, May 14, at Becker Vineyards. Guest chefs will prepare incredible courses and each will be paired with a special wine. I’ve been to many of the events at the Becker Vineyards and have never been disappointed! So, yes, I’ll be at that one for sure.
If you are interested in learning more about wine, be sure and check out the seminars on Saturday, May 15, at the Hilton Palacio del Rio. One seminar is all about the fabulous Napa Valley and why so many delicious reds come from there – think terroir!
There’s also a seminar on wine aromas…what to look for in certain wines by using your nose. I’m particularly interested in that one. There’s nothing more intimidating that sipping wine with folks that smell 15 different aromas in one glass when you only smell a few. Smell is subjective – some of us are more familiar with certain scents than others. This should be an interesting class.
