This weekend my husband and I will be celebrating an anniversary – a big one! And, our adventurous journey of ups and downs, highs and lows all officially started at Tony’s restaurant in Houston.
I don’t remember what wine I drank that night and have no idea what I ordered. I do still have a tiny splits of champagne Tony gave us, and I’m embarrassed to say, Tony, I also have one of your ashtrays…my sister in law confiscated it from the ladies’ room. It’s never been used, so you if want it back, it’s yours.
Good times with family and friends are truly the ‘stuff’ memories are made of, and so many of our incredible memories, so far, revolve around food and wine. I would imagine yours do too.
About 10 years ago we made our first trip to Italy and experienced the fresh pastas, ruby red tomatoes and that luscious stuff they call limoncello. Not only did we fall in love with Italian food and those fabulous Tuscany wines, we also discovered a new passion that led to a new career… producing a wine and food website.
This impetuous journey now brings me home to Houston…where I grew up. So, Tony Vallone, we’ll raise a glass to you as we celebrate this weekend, and we’ll also toast the many other wonderful restaurateurs who like it or not, become a part of our lives. I’m already looking forward to our special dinner as we celebrate Saturday night – maybe years from now I’ll be writing about that experience too.
As for the wine we’ll be drinking on this occasion…a special Tuscan wine that turned our world upside down–luckily we landed right side up!
Congrats to you and Mike, Tanji!
Felicidades Chicaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
