There’s a royal gem in Texas who I’m grateful to call a friend. His blood may not run ‘blue’, but he certainly knows the Blue Bloods well. Royal Chef Darren McGrady worked for Queen Elizabeth for years and went to work for Princess Diana when she divorced Charles.
His stories of life at Kensington vs life at Windsor are engaging and paint a picture of a single mom doing her best to give the royal heirs as normal a life as she could.
I first met Darren several years ago because of our common interests in food and wine. He’s a fabulous instructor if you ever have the chance to take one of his classes, and he’s also a talented writer. His cookbook ‘Eating Royally’ is wonderful and chock-full of interesting, fun tidbits about the Royal Family. I have no doubt that Darren will soon have a cooking show of his own. He’s extremely engaging on camera and off.
