San Antonio is a wonderful food and wine destination, and there’s an event each year that highlights both – Culinaria! You could call Culinaria the ‘Fiesta’ of food & wine. It’s a series of fun events starting this week which offers San Antonio access to leading wine-makers and chefs.
· To learn a lot about wine you really do have totaste a lot of wine. Opportunities to taste different wines side by side are incredibly helpful. There’s a great opportunity to do that Thursday when Texas’ favorite Becker Vineyards pairs up with Bordeaux wine producers for a wine pairing dinner at Francesca’s at Sunset at the Westin La Cantera.
The Beckers are known for their Bordeaux style wines, so I’m looking forward to trying the Becker wines side by side with their French counterparts. Hosts for the evening are Dr Richard and Bunny Becker, : David Launay, Chateau Gruaud Larose; Jean-Christopher Calvet, Aquitaine Wine Company. And of course, the food will be incredible…it’s Francesca’s!
You can get reservations by calling 210-558-2253.
Culinaria kicks off on May 11th with Sip, Savor and Shop at the Shops at La Cantera. The final event is Burger, BBQ, Beer & Texas Spirits on May 15th at Pearl. In between are amazing events, from black tie dinners, wine tastings, winemaker dinners and days of family fun. The Grand Tasting is on Saturday night at the Grand Hyatt, and it too is a grand opportunity to taste a variety of wines side by side.
Prices for events range from as low as $35, up to $250 and tickets are available now. Call 210-822-9555 for tickets. For a full list of events and more information, go to the Culinaria web site.
