Food and wine lovers are gonna love this event! With five of Texas’ best chefs competing, a three-course tasting menu and fifteen wine and food pairings…how can you go wrong?
The ‘Edible Texas Wine-Food Match’ is a competition between regional chefs to see who can come up with the best pairing of gourmet foods and wines. And, it’s sponsored by Edible Austin-a wonderful magazine (James Beard Award winner) that promotes Texas’ food culture.
This first-ever culinary competition challenges chefs from Central Texas to create regional food to pair with Texas wines in order to bring out the best in both. The showdown is Friday, June 3rd from 7pm to 10pm at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin. Chef Jack Gilmore (Jack Allen’s Kitchen) and I are emcees…THAT is gonna be fun! I’m a big fan of Jack’s…he’s an incredibly talented chef.
And, there’s a very distinguished panel of judges– Jacques Pépin, world-renowned chef, television celebrity, author and culinary educator; Francois Dionot, founder and director of L’Academie de Cuisine; John Besh, chef, restaurateur, author and television personality; Michael Bauer, executive food and wine editor for the San Francisco Chronicle; and Paula Lambert, cookbook author and founder of the Mozzarella Company.
Another big reason to come… two San Antonio chefs are among the competitors: Chef Peter Smith from the JW Marriott Hill Country Resort and Chef Patrick James Edwards of Bin 555. Tickets are now available, and all proceeds from the event will benefit the newly launched nonprofit Texas Center for Wine and Culinary Arts in Fredericksburg.
