Talk about a true Texas legend! Catering with freshly prepared ingredients to a variety of customers, from Hill Country locals all the way to the White House (it’s true!), America has come to know the name of Don Strange. Despite passing away nearly two years ago, his culinary legacy lives on through his wife, Frances Strange, and her award-winning new book, Don Strange of Texas: His Life & Recipes. Not only did I get to spend the day on the historic Don Strange Ranch with Frances herself, but I was also treated to a live demonstration on how to make Don’s beloved crab corn cakes.
A beautiful setting, incredible food, and more than a few unique kitchen items to keep an eye out for (see the video for more details on Don’s patented Texas Grill Pardner, as well as the wine glass ‘tappa’ by The Boerne Wine Company). Not too shabby!
