If you’re looking for a quick weekend getaway that offers a totally Texas dining experience, head for the hills…the Texas hills!
The Cabernet Grill, a quaint restaurant with a B&B in Fredericksburg, takes ‘bigger and better in Texas’ to an all new level with its delicious chicken fried fare. The really good news is they’re sharing some of their secrets. So, if you can’t make the trip, you can still experience the taste.
I first discovered the Cabernet Grill when shooting a cooking segment on how to make a ‘Chicken Fried Pecan Pie.’ I thought the chef had lost his mind. I wasn’t even looking forward to trying the deep fried dessert. Well, one taste and I was hooked. It was incredible – cruncy, rich and creamy all in one giant bite and topped off with a dollop of Jack Daniels chocolate ice cream!
We took our cameras back recently only to discover that the clever chef had a new deep fried wonder – a chicken fried ribeye with lobster on top!
No ordinary chicken fried – this juicy, tender steak is topped with a shallot cream sauce (the best ‘gravy’ you’ve ever tasted), roasted green chilis and chunks of succulent lobster. You can watch the video here or head to my website Goodtaste.tv for the recipe.
So, what in the world do you pair with such a dish? A Kick Butt Cabernet from Texas Hills Vineyard!
