People who know Chef Steven McHugh, Executive Chef of Luke Restaurant on the SA River Walk, will tell you he has a big heart. They’re right. For the past three days Chef McHugh has been in Bastrop cooking for the victims of the wildfires.
It’s not the first time the CIA trained chef has worn his heart on his crisp white sleeves. He along with his employer, famed chef John Besh, worked tirelessly after Hurricane Katrina feeding FEMA employees who were helping victims in New Orleans.
I happened to hear about his generous endeavors when when I called the chef this morning regarding a project we’re working on. Thought I’d pass along the news. If you’re looking for a fabulous restaurant to dine in soon, it might be nice to pay Chef McHugh a visit – one good deed often results in another. And besides, Luke’s shrimp and grits are some of the best I’ve ever had!
