Come hungry for Royers’ Famous Chocolate Chip Pie

Royers' pecan pie

It’s an iconic cafe, smack dab in the middle of Texas! Royers Round Top Café is an experience all in itself, where people come for the gourmet comfort food and stay for the Good Samaritan service. Bud “the Pieman” Royer is the funky founding father, who moved to Round Top in 1987 to take over this tiny 40-seat sanctuary. It’s quite a space for a town where the total population today is only 90!

Bud tells me that his business is the “people business,” but his family’s home-cooked menu speaks volumes. Royers is known all over for its pies…so much so that their “claim to fame pie” – Bud’s Chocolate Chip OMG! – even ships overseas to members of the US Military! It’s like a big thick Chocolate Chip Cookie with pecans – but better!

Round Top itself is also home to a number of top tier antique shows through out the year, many of which are happening right now! Make a day out of eating at the legendary Royers and taking in a fabulous show…
