The beautiful Quattro Restaurant in downtown Houston is a fabulous place to dine. Chef Maurizio Ferrarese tells me that every dish on his Italian menu has a story, including his homemade recipe for Texas Akaushi Beef Lasagna, which immediately caught my attention! I’m a huge fan of the HeartBrand Akaushi and lasagna, so it’s no surprise the two together are a match made in culinary heaven. Lasagna is a specialty of Chef Ferrarese — and this one is loosely based on his mother’s recipe…lasagna she used to make every Sunday that became a tradition in his family.
At Quattro, both the pasta and sauce are made entirely from scratch! Watch the video to learn more about the health benefits of the Akaushi breed, as told by HeartBrand’s president, Jordan Beeman. It has a significant source of Oleic acid (found in Olive oil), an essential amino acid that gives it its distinct buttery, rich flavor.
Quattro is also a haven for seafood. They try to source as much from the Gulf of Mexico as possible, allowing for their menu to be ultra-fresh! Risottos are especially noteworthy here as well. Try this recipe for Green Asparagus Risotto with Jumbo Lump Crab from Chef Ferrarese. It’s a keeper!
