My favorite way to learn about wine is to taste the wine with food. Whenever I attend a carefully orchestrated wine and food pairing dinner, I feel like I’ve completed another chapter in the pursuit of wine expertise.
There are many good wine dinners at local restaurants to choose from, but in my mind there is a big stand out in the crowd when it comes to executing these events. Masraff’s (Uptown) and and food pairing events are always top shelf. You might recall Mr. Darioush himself attended one of the events…a rare occurrence!
Masraff Sommelier Ben Roberts, who just happens to be title holder of the H-Town Iron Sommelier, puts a great deal of thought and planning into the selection of the wine maker and the theme of the wine dinner. Case in point, an upcoming wine dinner featuring Beaux Freres wines. Diners will taste five vintages of Beaux Freres’ beautiful pinot noirs. Each wine will be paired with a specially created dish.
The wine dinner will be Tuesday, May 21, starting at 6:30. Reservations are required. You can call 713-355-1975 for more information.
