I read somewhere that most fathers on Father’s Day, if given the choice, would prefer to stay home and do whatever they want instead of heading out to a fancy meal somewhere.
So, in honor of those dads, my hubby included, I thought I’d feature some man food ideas that come from talented chefs but are meals you can make at home.
Steaks are an obvious man food choice. I discovered this pecan encrusted steak with gorgonzola butter while judging a Beringer Vineyards steak competition. You can see by the picture that the dish has got a lot going on, and rest assured, it’s all good. Crunchy pecans, creamy gorgonzola and a tasty red pepper and balsamic reduction.
If you’ve ever visited the San Antonio River Walk then no doubt you’ve been to Boudro’s. Their prickly pear margaritas are legendary. They also do a addicting blackened prime rib that Dad would love…it’s what they’re know for!
If Dad’s a dessert guy, then take advantage of peach season and prepare this simple, delicious peach dish from the charming, romantic Fig Tree Restaurant on the River Walk.
Or, treat Dad like big time royalty and make Prince William’s groom’s cake. It’s super easy and oh, so good! Chef Darren McGrady (who was Princess Di’s chef) shared the recipe with me. Prince William loved it so much as a child that he requested it for his wedding.
