It’s totally time to COOL OUT this summer and feel invigorated with a spirit or two to lift your spirit! There are some wonderfully creative and original fruity blends here to try at home…that is, if you can’t make it out to the following fab locations. Enjoy these renditions from master mixologists in both H-town and the Alamo City!
One of the true masters is Masraff’s – among my favorite restaurants anywhere, and the perfect location for a girl in Uptown to enjoy a classy beverage like their Lychee Martini. It’s an Asian-inspired concoction whose Thai pepper garnish blooms into a beautiful flower! If Lychee is your thing, also be sure to try this lush Lychee Sangria I came across after a trip to Chicago…delicious!
Another superb offering from Masraff’s is their Romeo N Juliet martini; a gin-based ball of a cocktail to sip on. The combo of cucumber, lime and rose water really brings out the passion in me! And don’t forget, Masraff’s is an establishment built on their reputation for fresh seafood…order up!
Soon you’ll be able to lounge in the lap of luxury at the brand new Arbor Grill COMING SOON to the Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa! In the meantime, really recharge with this succulent Pineapple Mojito – just one of many drinks, along with the Seawall Boulevard, deserving of your attention.
Beat the heat and feel right at home at the sleek Anvil – Bar & Refuge, especially with their Savannah Deluge cocktail..an appropriate ode to the South made with the aromatic Root liqueur and 1840 Cognac!
One of Houston’s many bright spots on the dining scene is Haven just off of Kirby an 59. Chef Randy Evans sources incredible local products – plus, not only is he incredibly talented but he’s also one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. Two of Haven’s mixologists, Aaron Lara & Zach Adams returned from a month in Bali and were inspired to create this new cocktail. It’s called Traffic in Jakarta (couldn’t be worse than here…could it!).
The River Walk is THE spot to peruse during tourist season…there’s always something going on during the Summer months. Not to mention the scenery and atmosphere are alive and cookin’! Zinc Wine Bar & Bistro calls the area home, and after tasting their Berry Berry Zesty Margarita you may think twice about leaving yourself! It’s a new fav of mine. Also give their tangy Orange Blossom martini due time…while nibbling on awesome anticuchos from Chef Manny. You can’t go wrong here!
Boudro’s plays the “big brother” role to Zinc, and boasts some culinary staples of their own: The super refreshing Prickly Pear Margarita is practically legendary in San Antonio, as is their Tableside Guacamole. It’s made with the freshest of avocados, chilies, tomatoes and onions – you guessed it, right in front of you while you dine! Now that’s service…
La maestra Blanca is known for her cocktail prowess. Visit her at the trendy Stone Oak location for Aldaco’s to try this Award-Winning Cucumber Martini…it’s a real eye-catcher! And it tastes so fresh.
