Home to the stunning Blue Grotto, gorgeous seascapes, incredible hospitality and probably some of the best shopping in the world, what’s not to like about the island of Capri! An added bonus–the food and wine are wonderful too!
We concluded our exploration of food and wine in Tuscany here, and what a great place to simply relax and unwind. Our hotel was the beautiful La Scalinatella located along the picturesque coastline right in the town of Capri. The rooms open to the beautiful ocean, so there’s always an excuse to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio–the scenery is gorgeous.
The service at La Scalinatella was fantastic. Genaro and the folks there instantly make you part of their family. We enjoyed the outdoor lunches overlooking the inviting pool and the wide open ocean beyond. The food was delicious–fresh fish grilled to order, delicious vegetables and the ripest tomatoes ever!
Dining in Capri is great fun. One of our favorite restaurants on the island is La Capannina, a family owned business that’s been in Capri since 1931. The pastas here are extraordinary–of course, all house made. La Capannina’s pasta creations with fresh seafood like mussels and clams will leave you clamoring for more carbs!
I have their recipe for a tasty pasta and artichokes dish right here.
On the other side of the island in Anacapri, there’s a beautiful place to stay –The Capri Palace Hotel. The hotel is stunning and boasts two wonderful restaurants with gorgeous views – Michellin stars included. The Capri Palace Spa is also an incredible spot, and one favorited by Giada De Laurentiis.
If Capri is on your Italian itinerary, save some shopping money for this destination. The linen clothing is wonderful, and you’ll find an incredible number of top designers featured here. People watching is fantastic – jet setters from all over the world pop in and out. But, my favorite pastime in Capri is doing nothing…simply sipping rosé and staring at the beautiful sapphire blue ocean!
