I can always count on Ralph my Wine Guy for new monthly wines to try from H-E-B, but a couple of these I’ve never seen before! Track down our three picks and you’ll be set for summer…
The sampling began with a Gris Blanc from Gérard Bertrand. Made from Grenache Gris grapes, it’s a semi-dry rosé that’s nice and fruity. I’m a fan of rosés year-round and they pair well with a variety of food. This easy, go-to wine is just under $15 at H-E-B.
Next in line, the Gloria Ferrer Carneros Merlot out of Sonoma. Estate grown and bottled, this merlot is full-bodied with a blackberry/cherry flavor profile and hints of cedar on the finish. It’s nice! Try pairing with barbecue duck or chicken marsala.
I’ll be honest…I was stealing glances at this bottle all along. An Italian sparkling called Canei — the peach flavor. It’s a top-seller for H-E-B, made from Moscato grapes and available for under $10! You’ll taste honey dew, melon, and of course the peach. Super refreshing!
The Canei can be the perfect palate cleanser just as much as a must-do dessert wine. A fruity and sweet wine that’s certainly in-season at a superb value.
