Royers Round Top Cafe is iconic for Texas-sized pies in a priceless southern setting. Now you don’t have to make quite the treck to Round Top, Texas to enjoy their claim to fame, his Chocolate Chip Pie, although you should!
Behold the sweet little sister shoppe to Bud’s rowdy Round Top Cafe…Royers Pie Haven in Austin. Here you’ll find many of the same wonderful pie options — just in closer proximity! Pie Haven is a full-blown espresso bar with everything from pie muffins to OHHH MMMM GEEE pie milkshakes to satisfy even the most sensational of appetites.
This place, as Bud himself puts it, is whimsical and precious. Fetch a chair from outside, sit back and savor each bite! New offerings like the Sweet ‘N Salty should keep your tastebuds entertained for a time. Dense, brownie-like with caramel and sea salt.
Other popular pies include the Texas Trash… tempting coconut, chocolate chips, graham crackers, pretzels and caramel. To die for! Try slicing this one up and putting into the freezer. They become like little frozen candy bars.
Another fan favorite is the Junk Berry aka Crack Berry Pie. Named after dear friends of Bud’s, “The Junk Gypsies,” who have set up camp just down the road. This one is a mix of a whole bunch of junk…apples, peaches, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches with a sour cream topping!
And now for a recipe that will really rock your socks off this 4th of July: Bud’s Not My Mom’s Apple Pie. Six whole Granny Smith apples, in a sinful filling of brown sugar and whipping cream AND topped with a pecan and brown sugar streudel…Holy Cow!
Perfect in time for the season and all…we just LOVE it! If you’re in Austin for Independence Day, Pie Haven will be open from 10am to 4pm. They also deliver to 11 zip codes in the surrounding Austin area. Friday prepare to believe in life, liberty & the pursuit of PIE!
