Get ready for some of the most affordable fine dining in the city of Houston. Where else can you expect to find a gourmet meal, complete with wine for under $50?! Look for their special prix fixe menus. On top of that, I’d venture to say that some of the best new chefs around could be in this kitchen RIGHT NOW!
Kris Bistro & Wine Lounge is the Gourmet Bistro of Culinary Institute LeNôtre. Goodtaste caught up with Executive Chef Kris Jacob, who runs the famed cooking school and is also responsible for the bistro’s menu. I had always heard wonderful things, but it’s something else to witness the inner workings firsthand.
Chef Jacob and his team are on a mission for fine cuisine. Think of Kris as a modern French bistro supporting and showcasing local growers, artists, French wines and aspiring chefs. The institute is also hailed for housing one of the only cooking schools in the nation to offers 50 weeks of pastry — that’s a big deal!
It goes without saying, the food is over-the-top. I begged for Chef’s recipe for lavender-glazed Salmon Spring Provencal, and success! Plated with fresh veggies picked from the school’s garden! And save room for dessert while you’re at it…
I may have found my new favorite chocolate dessert in all of Houston. Watch the video above — I’m not kidding! Enjoy 😉
