Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) is taking place from August 1st-September 1st. Special entrees, cocktails and desserts are all a part of the month-long event. It’s a chance for you to try out Houston’s best of the best, when it comes to dining out. The list is nearly 200 restaurants long!
Brunch has a set price of $25 and includes different menu items at each restaurant. Enjoy lunch for $20 with a variety offerings and dinner for $35-$45, depending on the restaurant. The full list is on the link above, but we’ve done some cherry-picking of our favorites.
Here’s our two cents on the brunch, lunch and dinner menus from a handful of participating restaurants. Take a look, as we tempt you with dozens of great dishes!
60 Degrees Mastercrafted:
We love a great cut of meat. Check out the Akaushi Heartbrand Beef 60 Degrees is serving up. It’s mouthwatering!
Our favorite pick for the HRW lunch menu is their three-course menu of the 60 Chopped Salad, followed by The Classic Akaushi Gourmet Burger and finished off with Mini Pecan Balls.
Their HRW dinner menu is equally as divine!
Backstreet Cafe:
Their macaroni and cheese is the perfect comfort food. Our choice for HRW is Backstreet’s two-course lunch menu of Grilled Salmon Tacos and a Nutella Ice Coffee Milkshake. Be sure to check out their special dinner menu too.
Brennan’s of Houston:
Try this Texas Peach Salad for the ultimate in summer entertaining! During HRW, Brennan’s brunch is something you must try. The three-course menu has some delicious options. We like the Classic Turtle Soup, followed by the Chicken Creole and Traditional Bananas Foster. Their HRW lunch and dinner menu are just as enticing.
Eleven XI:
These Orange Scented Glazed Heirloom Carrots are a great summer side dish to prepare. If you’re stopping into Eleven XI for HRW, we suggest trying their dinner menu. Start with the Akaushi Meat Balls, then move on to the 11:11 Salad and finish with the Citrus Tea-Brined Wild Game Hen.
Del Frisco’s:
The popular Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse in the Galleria is also putting out its best for HRW. Their delicious 8 oz filet is on the menu and so is their Lobster Tempura [right]. Loyalists to Del Frisco’s will recognize this dish from the restaurant’s regular appetizer menu, and it’s a delish addition to the choices for HRW’s menu. I tried the dish recently and it was wonderful, cooked to perfection, and I loved the combo of the sweet Asian sauce and spicy tarter on the side. A great starter is the Roasted Poblano Bisque with Pica de Gallo.
Kata Robata:
You must mark this down as one of your destination restaurants for HRW. Kata Robata’s dinner menu for the event is full of flavor. You’ll get not three, but four courses here! Try the Asari Misco soup, followed by the Pork Belly And Fresh Papaya Salad, move on to the Sushi Plate and finish with the Warm Blueberry Cake.
Kris Bistro & Wine Lounge:
Their wine selection is out of this world! Check out our exemplary picks. Kris Bistro’s HRW dinner menu includes their lavender glazed Scottish Salmon — and Goodtaste has the recipe right here for you!
Latin Bites:
We love their Pescado A Lo Macho. Also definitely try Latin Bites’ brunch. We recommend the Goat Cheese Salad, Chicken And Waffle Sliders and Passion Fruit Parfait. Can’t make it for brunch? They also have a great HRW dinner menu too!
Masraff’s:
Who isn’t a HUGE fan of Masraff’s Colossal Crab Cake? We also fancy their HRW dinner menu.
Indulge in their Garlic Seared Calamari, followed by the Herb Roasted Rack Of Lamb and finished off with the Warm Double Chocolate Fondant.
Olivette:
Olivette’s regular menu shines with their Grilled Scallops with arugula and pearl couscous salad. It’s something we enjoy the other eleven months of the year. For HRW though, go for their three-course dinner menu. Sweet Corn Risotto, followed with the Steamed Snapper and Tres Leches for dessert.
Peli Peli
We love the Homemade South African Sausage and Tomato Sauce off their regular menu, but HRW brings out some of our other favorites as well! Peli Peli’s four-course dinner menu is something to celebrate. We recommend starting off with the Stuffed Mushrooms, then trying the Carrot Ginger soup, followed by the Curry Chicken and ending with the Sticky Toffee Pudding. They’re also serving up brunch for HRW.
Prego
The Sweet Potato Gnocchi is some of the best you’ll try…scout’s honor! And there’s no forgetting the macaroni and cheese. During HRW, try the Caprese and Spaghetti Con Polpette from their special, two-course lunch menu. They’re also serving a special HRW brunch and dinner menu.
