The hot, steamy summer weather is back and that means we’re seeking out some favorite seafood finds from around Houston…
Our incredible variety begins with my vote for best crab cake in the entire city…the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake [below] from Masraff’s in Uptown. It’s all crab, and no filler!
We paired this legendary appetizer with a Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc (full-bodied, zesty).
Crawfish fans will feel mighty satisfied at Good Ole Boys. If you’ve never been there, GOB is just off I-10 in Katy, TX. It’s a really fun indoor/outdoor icehouse with live music on the patio and a playground for the kiddos. LOVE their famous Boudain Balls and Shrimp Po-Boy Sandwich.
This Valiñas Albariño is a great seafood wine and a splendid pairing for GOB’s crawfish…nice minerality, tropical fruit for this Spanish wine.
Mambo Seafood has been serving Houston for more than two decades. This fresh seafood market supplied us with their Whole Red Snapper prepared Zarandeado style–delicious!
Mambo Rice is also a signature dish that guests rave about. My pairing recommendation for the snapper is the Drylands Sauvignon Blanc – about $15/bottle at H-E-B!
