A new week means another new episode of our fun new TV series for foodies. EPISODE 3 of Goodtaste with Tanji airs April 23-24th – set those DVR’s! Here’s your first look at what’s on tap…
FONDA SAN MIGUEL
May all your troubles wash away at Fonda San Miguel. The artwork in this place is stunning! The stylish surroundings burst with energy and vibrance – it’s a feast for the eyes and your tastebuds at this iconic Mexican food spot in Austin. Forty years and counting from the same location off W. North Loop…with one of the largest tequila menus in Texas!
We’ll taste colorful creations like their famous Ancho Relleno San Miguel, filled with chicken, olives, capers and almonds in a light cilantro cream sauce, or the Enchiladas Verdes with Chicken [shown above]. That recipe and another for sangrita, the perfect tequila chaser, this weekend. 🙂
CURED AT PEARL
Chef Steve McHugh, a 2016 James Beard finalist, has good reason to celebrate life. His critically-acclaimed restaurant, Cured, has personal significance that extends beyond the obvious. Sure, his charcuterie-driven menu of ‘cured’ meats have the national media buzzing, but the name has an altogether different meaning. Stay tuned for an inspiring story of courage and a CURE! 🙂
With a menu that’s forever in-flux, featuring farm fresh ingredients and meats aged to perfection, it’s easy to see how things stay fresh at this charming, rustic-chic restaurant.
LIBERTY KITCHEN & OYSTERETTE
Cajun creations meet sweet sensations at Liberty Kitchen & Oysterette. This is a neighborhood spot that locals in Houston love, but be forewarned…you’ll want to leave your diet at the door!
Chef Travis Lenig’s hip, homey and downright decadent menu boasts over 100 items–including some over-the-top desserts you simply won’t want to miss. A slice from this show-stopping Salted Caramel Cake anyone…?
One visit and you’ll soon discovered this oyster bar redefined is unlike any you’ve been to before!
Napa cabernets are all the rage, but I’ll reveal three delicious wines that compete with Napa and don’t cost nearly as much. My Wines of the Week!
