Before I tell you all about one of Houston’s BEST wine and food events, I want to remind you to set your DVR’s to KPRC for THIS Sunday at 5:30a for our new show Goodtaste with Tanji. We’ll take you to some of H-Town’s best dining spots and slip off to some cool spots in Austin and San Antonio too!
Now, about that awesome wine event. It’s a New York State of Mind theme this year at Wine & Food Week in The Woodlands. Set for June 6-12, this annual epicurean extravaganza draws culinary masters and wine experts from around the world- it’s one of my faves all year!
When it’s all said and done, the 2016 Wine & Food Week will have featured more than 500 wines, 75 restaurants, plus legendary wine producers and personalities. Depending on your interest, there’s a myriad of education classes, chef demonstrations and wine-and-dine experiences up for grabs–but you’ll want to act now on tickets!
Wine & Food Week’s signature ‘Big Three’ events include the H-E-B Wine Walk at Market Street, Sips, Suds & Tacos and The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase. The Wine Walk is a taste and stroll with wine and light bites from more than 40 tasting stations. It’s great fun…stop by our spot at one of the H-E-B wine stations and say hello. Munch away at Sips, Suds & Tacos with live music, craft beers and a gourmet Taco Takedown competition!
Top billing, however, belongs to the Grand Tasting. Expect hundreds of wines and chefs from more than 60 restaurants competing for the coveted Chef of Chefs Award. Tastings will focus on sustainable and local foods. To complete the evening, the experience culminates with the “Just Desserts” contest – a confectionary competition to crown the night’s dessert extraordinaire.
