Austin
Keep it weird at Jack Allen’s Kitchen in Austin! Locally sourced dishes like the South Texas Layered Enchiladas get extra love from rotisserie chicken and Texas Brew Rockin’ Moroccan Sauce and employees who treat everyone like family! Everyone knows Executive Chef and co-owner Jack Gilmore not just for his big hair and voice, but also his big heart. He gives more than a half a million dollars each year for farmers in need!
Feel good about good eatin’ in Season 1! Watch it here!
Houston
There’s a couple of reasons Houstonian’s head to Holley’s! First, succulent Southern style seafood, and second, a place that feels like home! Chef Mark Holley’s crew is all about good food and fun! Charbroiled oysters [above] and Holley’s Muddled Stew give guests a warm and fuzzy feeling every time they dine, and if you’re hopping through Houston, you’ll want to hit up this hometown spot.
In Season 2, Chef Holley called me a funny name for a fun reason! Hear what it was here!
San Antonio
Cozy up at The Cove in San Antonio, where not only can you dine on a delicious organic meal, but get your car washed and your laundry done! Fifty-two taps featuring only Texas beers makes this a one-and-done winner for San Antonians! Locals love the locally sourced food — from the bison burger, with beef raised just up the road, to the hearty sweet potato hash!
Watch how a mother of a three started selling ice cream and sandwiches from of all places — the laundromat! View it in Season 2!
Hill Country
Camp Verde may be a hidden treasure in the Hill Country, but locals know exactly where to find it! Located on the banks of Verde Creek, this scenic spot hosts a general store that’s been in business since 1857! The mouthwatering menu includes juicy roast beef sandwiches and Donna’s Meatloaf [above], named for one of the original kitchen managers. Try their pies– there’s a little taste of home and love in every bite!
You’ll notice an exotic animal graces the grounds of Camp Verde– there’s a good story behind that! Watch it here!
