Time for one of my favorite parts of Goodtaste: our top wine picks! This year, sip on two fabulous Pinot Noirs and a brand new wine from a Texas winemaker that’s just $10 a bottle.
Of course, you can find all of these wine finds at H-E-B.
Becker Vineyards ‘Springtime’
Up first, a Texas wine from one of the Texas wine pioneer families, Becker Vineyards, just outside of Fredericksburg. If you haven’t been to this winery, I highly recommend it. It’s one of the true stars in the state. Our pick from Becker is called ‘Springtime,’ a lovely white wine featuring a blend of .. It has a bouquet that screams flowers! It pairs perfectly with roasted chicken, scallops and shrimp. It really is a versatile white wine and is delicious all by itself. It’s priced at just $10 a bottle at H-E-B.
Twenty Rows Pinot Noir
Next, a Pinot Noir that is definitely a crowd-pleaser. It’s called Twenty Rows and it’s from Sonoma County. Like most Pinot Noirs, Twenty Rows pairs beautifully with all kinds of different dishes, from meats to fish. It has a lovely flavor of cherries and cranberries, with a bit of vanilla on the finish. It’s priced at just under $20 a bottle.
Lyric Pinot Noir
Last, but definitely not least, the Lyric Pinot Noir. If you haven’t tried it already, put it on your “to drink” list. It’s a great wine for drinking all by itself with flavors of blackberries and cranberries, with just a hint of spice on the finish. It’s a very smooth wine that pairs great with anything you’re planning to serve at dinner. This is another fabulous find for just $25 a bottle.
As always, you can find all of my wine finds at H-E-B. Have any questions about wine pairings? Email me at goodtaste@tanjipatton.com.
