Over the course of a century, the Bloody Mary has gone from urbane to mainstream to outsized social media extremes. In celebration of National Bloody Mary Day, here are some of our Texas favorites to try now!
1. Houston: Fielding’s Wood Grill and Fielding’s Local Kitchen + Bar— Bloody Mary Flight
Ever want to order the whole menu? Well, now you don’t have to decide with the full Bloody Mary flight at Fielding’s Wood Grill and Fielding’s Local Kitchen + Bar in The Woodlands. For $20 you can try the Whiskey + Bacon, served with Alberta dark barrel rye and candied bacon, and the Smoker, made in a smoked glass with rey campero mezcal.
2. Austin: Hail Mary at Star Bar
We all know everything’s bigger in Texas, and the Hail Mary at Star Bar in Austin is pure proof. Garnished with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, you’ll get a whole day’s worth of meals in one drink.
3. Frisco: Over the TOP Bloody Mary at Nerdvana
We can’t stop thinking about the overflowing Bloody Mary at Nerdvana in Frisco. This drink is literally dripping in cheese thanks to the skewered grilled cheese sandwich garnish. For more on this super-fun restaurant, check out our segment from Goodtaste with Tanji here.

One of the loveliest patios in the Texas Hill Country has live music PLUS an expansive Bloody Mary bar every weekend! What was once the site of the old historic post office in New Braunfels is now the bustling Sunday brunch spot, McAdoo’s. This massive cocktail bar offers over 15 hot sauces to choose from.
5. Bonus: Tomato-Cucumber Juice Bloody Mary at Charlie Bird in NYC
We had an incredible meal at Charlie Bird in New York City and its Bloody Mary was an absolute standout. Fresh tomatoes and cucumber are pureed, strained and then marinated in vinegar, salt and a touch of chili flakes. It is light, refreshing and not as filling as your standard Bloody Mary.
