We have a lot to celebrate during the month of February here in Texas — Valentine’s Day, the rodeo and so much more! Here at Goodtaste, we know how you like to celebrate, so Ralph from the H-E-B Plus at Blanco and 1604 in San Antonio shares his four wine picks for any occasion.
First, if you need a little bubbles to go with a bouquet of roses for your Valentine, pick up a bottle of the A to Z Wineworks Bubbles Sparkling Wine. It has a great fresh fruit flavor of strawberry, peach and nectarines while also being dry with a good acidity. It pairs great with fried dishes or is delicious all by itself. $17
Next, is a pick from Fredricksburg — the Becker Vineyards Springtime White Wine. You’ll get aromas of apple and honey. It’s slightly sweet with fruity flavors and will make a great wine to sit on your porch with. $10
Known for its Pinot Noir is a pick from Burgundy, the Couvent Des Jacobins Pinot Noir. It’s medium-bodied with strawberry and cherry flavors and a bit of spice and earthiness from the oak. This will pair wonderfully with a Beef Bourguignon or Mushroom Risotto. $25
Last, is the Blazon Cabernet Sauvignon. You’ll taste dark fruits like black cherries, plums and blackberries with a bit of vanilla. This pick also is a Gold Medal winner from the 2019 Houston Rodeo. It’ll go great with barbecue or a meaty filet. $11
As always, you can find all of these wines at your local H-E-B or H-E-B.com. Bonus: Get 10% off your entire purchase when you buy six or more bottles!
