You can’t fully enjoy summer without a burger. Thanks to my job, I get to travel across the state and taste the best of the best, hear stories from passionate business owners, and dig into some pretty epic burgers. When I’m in San Antonio, people always ask me about my favorite spots. Where do they need to go. While there are so many amazing places to choose from in SA, Fletcher’s Hamburgers is one of my go-to’s. All of their burgers are Texas-sized, juicy and cooked to perfection.
To switch things up, pair your favorite Fletcher’s burger (or your best-loved recipe to make at home) with wine! The griddled, slightly smoky patty goes so nicely with a bold cab or a fruity Rosé. From my friends at H-E-B, here are 4 bottles to pair with your favorite burgers this summer. Check out the full segment with my friends at San Antonio Living and Fletcher’s Hamburgers HERE.
Tanji’s Wine Picks:
Angeline Sauvignon Blanc is a fruit-friendly, lighter wine with hints of green apples. It cuts nicely through the richness of a burger loaded with all the toppings. (Note: this wine is only available at H-E-B) | $11.98
Yes Way Rosé also pairs very well with any burger because of its crisp minerality and lighter, fruit-forward profile. $11
The H3 Cabernet from Columbia Crest in Washington state has notes of dark cherries and blackberries mixed with vanilla from the oak barrels. $11
I recommend the Clos de los Siete Malbec. This full-bodied Argentinian wine is made with grapes grown at the base of the Andes. It’s a hearty red wine and you can’t beat the long finish. $14
The Juan Gil Monastrell from the Jumilla region of Spain is a delicious full-bodied wine. You’ll taste rich dark plums and boysenberries. This bottle is great with food or all by itself. $13
Special thanks to my friend Shelley Miles at San Antonio Living on News 4 WOAI for all the fun! As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
