The summer has flown by and cooler weather is coming our way. That means bigger and bolder wine will be filling our glasses! Jamie from the H-E-B Montrose Market in Houston shares her favorites under $20, plus why Zinfandel pairs so well with all the heartier foods you’ll be cooking up as the temperature goes down.
My Wine Finds:
First, the Lapis Luna Zinfandel from North Coast California. You’ll taste brighter fruits like plums and blackberries with hints of dark chocolate, pepper and spices. This wine is smooth and juicy with a long finish. $17
Our next find comes all the way from Italy, the Vanita Primitivo. Italian Zinfandels tend to be a little more subtle on the fruit with more body and structure. This is a great wine to drink with food like braised meats or even pizza! $15
Produced in South California in Paso Robles, this warm climate wine is big in fruit, body and color. The Brady Vineyard Zinfandel is powerful on the nose with scents of raspberry, black pepper and subtle notes of vanilla. Though this wine is big in every way, the finish is smooth and soft. $17
