Join us this weekend for our episode as we pack our bags and head to the outskirts of the Alamo City. Grab a spot on the expansive patio at the family-friendly Branch Neighborhood Grill. Simply called “The Branch” by those in the know, this American-style grill turns out crispy fried onion chips, the cheesy griddled burgers and Gulf shrimp every which way. Catch live music on the oak tree-shaded patio while the kids tire themselves out on the playground – this spot is the perfect Texas Hill Country getaway.
Then, we’re saying “Aloha” to the breezy lakeside Hula Hut in Austin. You’d never guess that this little oasis is nestled right in the middle of the State’s capital. Fresh Tex-Mex gets a Polynesian twist in dishes like their Shrimp Chile Rellenos topped with a mango-pineapple salsa or the Crab-Stuffed Deep Fried Avocado. Did we mention that they also have one of the best Tres Leches cakes in Texas?
Next, we make our way to Vargas Cut & Catch in Galveston where people come from all over to try their GIANT prime steaks, fresh-caught seafood and epic desserts. Trust us: you’ll want to save room for the show-stopping “Paco Dome,” a slice of chocolate coffee cake topped with cinnamon ice cream and encased in a dome of chocolate. The whole thing transforms right before your eyes as hot chocolate sauce is drizzled over the top.
Don’t miss out on all of the action (and incredible H-E-B wines).
