A new season of Goodtaste with Tanji means new wine finds! I can’t wait for you to see what picks I have in store for you. Since we’re all spending a lot more time outside right now, I found a few picks perfect for the porch. As always, all of these bottles (and many more!) can be found at your local H-E-B.
Up first, the ultimate pandemic porch wine. Let us introduce you to the PaintBox, a boxed wine that makes several different varietals, including this pinot grigio. One box equals 4 bottles of wine! $17
Next, one of my favorite new rosés finds of the season – Calafuria Rosé by Tormaresca. You’ll taste lush tropical fruits and then finish with a bright crisp mineral acidity — you can tell the vineyards are not far from the sea. $16
Okay red fans, a new trend that’s really taken off is aging wine in bourbon barrels. Say hello to the Barrel Bomb Cabernet. Perfect for a steak or a porch, you’ll instantly taste the dark fruit and finish with the vanilla notes you’d expect from the Kentucky bourbon barrels it’s aged in. $20
Last but not least, a wine named for something we all know well — an Indian Summer. This wine, aptly named, is from Becker Vineyards. It’s a cab, merlot, and mourvedre blend with juicy bing cherries, tart raspberries, and a finish of vanilla and black pepper. $11
