Long weekends call for a weekend getaway! We all deserve a break every once in a while, so take advantage of a bonus day off with a quick trip to an awesome Texas city. We rounded up some of our favorite spots to escape, explore, and relax.
The Goodtaste Hill Country Tour
The Hill Country’s vast views of the sprawling Texas sky and rolling hills make it an ideal scenic destination. Whether you’re looking for a quick day trip or a weekend-long stay, there are plenty of must-visit wineries, restaurants, and chic hotels.
The Goodtaste Gulf Coast Getaway
Longing for a beach trip? You’re in luck—you can dig your toes in the sand and catch some waves only a couple of hours away (even less if you’re in Houston). So pack your beach bag and slip into your swimsuit, because we’re sharing our favorite places to eat, sleep, and play on the Texas coast.
Round Top
If you’re a fan of antiquing, Round Top is a must-stop to dig for treasures just waiting to be found. Known for having one of the best antique shows in the nation during the spring and fall, the town is also fun to visit year-round for a little retail therapy. Then rest your feet at some of our favorite spots like The Garden Company Feed & Firewater and Local Roots and unwind with some live tunes and cocktails amid the bumping nightlife scene.
Austin
There’s a little something for everyone in our state’s capital, with no shortage of things to do on any given weekend, like shopping South Congress, swimming at Hamilton Pool Preserve, picnicking at Zilker, barhopping down Rainey, and boogieing down at Stubb’s. Don’t even get us started on all the food to try: barbecue, Tex-Mex, Asian, Indian, and beyond—Austin has it all. Find some of our favorites here!
Marfa
If getting away from people is more of what you’ve set your sights on for the weekend, this West Texas desert town is just the spot. With fewer than 2,000 residents, Marfa is a unique hub for art, culture, creativity, eats, and boutiques. Catch a glimpse of the Marfa Lights—a series of randomly appearing orbs, sometimes of varying colors and sometimes attributed to ghosts—and don’t forget to take an obligatory photo at the Prada art installation before you leave.

Since I’ve been sequestered during Covid, I’ve written a memoir and rehabbed my dog after ACL surgery, and I”m craving a trip. Everything on your list sounds like heaven to me. The places, the food. I’m dying to get out. If you need a travel companion or someone to be your sound or lighting person, give me a call. BTW, I love Kim. Thanks, again! xoxox, Brenda
