For more than 90 years, The Original Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart, Texas has been serving up delicious barbecue with a heaping side of true Texas hospitality. If you’ve had the pleasure of dining at any of their four locations, you know just what a lovely experience it is – their Texas roots run deep!

So, it only made sense for the restaurant to partner with delivery app Favor. Favor was founded in Austin in 2013, and it’s the only app of its kind that’s by and for Texans. The app recently launched a community-driven contest to be the next ‘Texpat.’ This new program invites community members to ‘Nominate a Texan’ deserving of a special delivery. These nominees can be in or out of state (i.e., a Texpat). The selected nominee will be surprised with some form of Texas hospitality (food, flowers, coffee, etc.).
Favor’s first Texpat mission was an unforgettable one. Favor delivery driver (or Runner), Stacey Sheffield embarked on a 900-mile trek to Pikes Peak.
It was all to bring a taste of home from The Original Black’s Barbecue to deserving Texan, Randy Stavinoha. Randy is a veteran from Schulenberg, who now lives and works in Colorado.
The epic delivery was chronicled in films that you can watch here and here.
In case you’re wondering what was delivered to Randy from The Original Black’s Barbecue, it was brisket, chicken and giant beef ribs!
