You probably have a favorite rub whether it's in a jar (love Emeril's and Ricks Treaux avail at Groomers) or a mixture than comes from your spice drawer. I've made these ribs using a jar rub, and I've done them with my own concoction out of a spice drawer. Either way, these come out finger lickin' good!

  • 1 c  brown sugar
  • 1/4 c  paprika
  • 1 T  garlic powder
  • 1 T  cumin
  • 1 T  Cayenne Pepper

  • 1-2 lb slab of baby backs
  • 1/4 c  honey
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 c  Big Red or Dr. Pepper
  • 1/4 cup white wine (or white vinegar)
  • Red Pepper Flakes

Recipe Info

For the Rub:

  1. Put all ingredients into a ziplock bag and shake until thoroughly mixed. You can do this a day in advance if you like.

For the Ribs:

  1. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Line a baking dish with foil. Generously salt and pepper the ribs and place in the pan. Cover the ribs with the rub and press into the meat.

  2. Let cook for 40-45 minutes uncovered to allow rub to set. Pour half of honey, Big Red soda (half) and full amount of white wine over the ribs. Tightly cover with foil, and cook for approx 30 minutes. Remove, uncover, and pour remainder of honey and Big Red over ribs. Seal once again and return in oven for an additional 30 minutes.

  3. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
