The Crafthouse Gastropub's Thai Beef Salad
This recipe is from our friends at The Crafthouse Gastropub in Lubbock, featured in our third season! This salad is easy to make at home and features a homemade dressing!
- 2 T sugar
- 1 t minced garlic
- 5 oz fish sauce you can find in the Asian aisle at the grocery store
- Juice of 2 limes
- 1 t red pepper flakes
- 1 lb NY strip steak sliced
- 1 T vegetable oil
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 1 handful fresh basil
- 1 handful fresh cilantro
- 1 handful fresh mint
- 1/2 c roasted peanuts
- 1 large can chow mein noodles
- 1 large can chow mein noodles
For dressing, blend sugar, minced garlic, fish sauce, lime juice, and red pepper flakes together.
Heat a large skillet on medium high heat. Add steak and oil and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Cook both sides of steak slices until they have been browned. Remove steak from the pan and place in a large mixing bowl along with the dressing and all the remaining ingredients except for the chow mein noodles.
Toss all the ingredients together so that the dressing is evenly distributed throughout. Divide chow mein noodles between four bowls. Dividing evenly among the bowls, place the tossed ingredients on top of the chow mein noodles and serve immediately
