The Original Black’s Barbecue’s Candied Brisket

If you happen to have any leftover brisket, this treat is well worth saving a few pieces. The Original Black’s Barbecue shared this simple salty-sweet recipe that you can add to peach cobbler, ice cream, or eat all by itself.
Servings 8 (2 oz. each)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound cooked fatty brisket finely chopped
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the brisket and brown sugar. Mix with your hands to make a cohesive mixture. Spread the brisket in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 5 to 10 minutes, or until the sugar has combined. Let cool to room temperature.
  • Sprinkle the candied brisket over vanilla ice cream or homemade peach cobbler, like they do at Black’s Barbecue.

Notes

Starting with hot brisket helps, but is not required.
