Ingredients
- 1 lb Black's Barbecue sausage links
- 1 can premade flaky biscuit dough (or make your own)
- vegetable oil (about 2 cups, for frying)
- Your favorite dipping sauces (BBQ sauce, honey mustard, honey, etc.)
Instructions
- Slice the sausage links into bite-sized pieces (about 1-inch each).
- Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the layers to make thinner strips. Gently flatten each strip with your fingers or a rolling pin until about ¼ inch thick.
- Take each piece of sausage and wrap it snugly with a strip of biscuit dough, pinching or twisting the ends to secure.
- In a skillet or frying pan, heat about 2 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot enough that a small piece of dough sizzles immediately when added.
- Carefully place the wrapped sausages in the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Use tongs or a slotted spoon to transfer the fried bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve these BBQ pigs in a blanket hot, paired with your favorite dipping sauces like BBQ sauce, honey mustard, or even spicy options.
Notes
Pitmaster Tips:
Get creative with dipping sauces: Mix in hot sauce with honey or BBQ sauce for a sweet and spicy kick.
Test your oil temperature: The oil should be about 350°F for optimal frying. If it’s too cool, the dough will absorb too much oil, and if too hot, it’ll burn before the sausage is warmed through
