Fuse your love of wine and astronomy this week with a trip to your favorite Hill Country winery to catch a glimpse of the annular solar eclipse. Winery lawns are the perfect viewing grounds for the eclipse, which will occur on October 14th. During the eclipse, the moon will squeeze between the sun and the earth, but won’t fully cover the sun, leaving a thin outer ring of the sun visible often called a “ring of fire.”
The Duchman Family Winery in Driftwood will host an eclipse viewing soiree on their market day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., October 14th. There will be live music and an outdoor bar serving wine in free commemorative eclipse wine tumblers. Reservations for wine tastings are required and will start at 2:15 p.m. Eclipse glasses will be provided to the first 200 people.
Pedernales Cellars in Stonewall will host an eclipse viewing from noon to 4 p.m. on October 14th. There will be live music and eclipse glasses will be provided so guests can safely view the astronomical wonder. Reservations are required for tastings.
