What's to say? Blue Cheese French Toast with candied bacon in a bourbon cherry sauce...oh my! Try this decadent dish as an appetizer or dessert. Many thanks to my friends at Robard's Steakhouse at The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center for the recipe!
Combine all ingredients; simmer, reduce by 1/3 and chill.
For the Candied Bacon:
Lay bacon on rack, mix mustard & brown sugar then brush on, sprinkle thyme & red pepper. Bake @ 350 for 15 minutes.
To Cook & Serve:
Dip bread in egg batter, soak for 5 minutes. Preheat nonstick skillet to medium heat, add whole butter and soaked bread sliced to pan, cook slowly till light brown, flip and continue cooking till firm than remove and plate. Top with slices of candied bacon and crumbled Gorgonzola cheese, add cherry syrup.
