6Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and placed in water so they don't turn brown
3sheets of pie dough, cut in half
For the Sauce
2cupsSprite
¾cupbrown sugar
¼cupunsalted butter, softened
For the Filling
¾cupgranulated sugar
6Tbspbrown sugar
2tspcinnamon
1tspnutmeg
3Tbspunsalted butter, softened
Instructions
Preheat over to 350℉.
For the Sauce
Bring the sauce ingredients to a boil in a pan. Boil for two minutes, remove from heat, then set aside.
For the Filling
Combine the sugars, cinnamon and nutmeg. Then, mix 3 Tbsp unsalted butter with ⅔ cup of the filling mix (set the remaining filling mix aside)
Stuff the center of all six apples evenly with the butter/filling mix.
In a bowl, roll the apples in the remaining filling mix.
Place one apple in the center of each of the ½ pie dough sheets. Fold the dough around each apple and seal.
Place apples in a 2" ½ pan. Pour the sauce over the apples and bake at 350℉ for 40 minutes (low fan for convection ovens), rotating pan halfway through baking time.
