You don't need a super expensive grill to make great barbecue. A Weber Kettle Grill is a great option. Barrett Black from The Original Black's Barbecue recommends using a 4-5lb brisket for this type of grill.

Make a Foil Smoking Packet
Get a piece of foil (about 12 inches long) and place a handful of post oak wood chips in the middle, then fold. Don't soak the wood chips ahead of time. Hickory is also a great option.
Poke slits in the foil packet.
Set Up the Snake Method
Place charcoal briquettes 3-4 high all the way around the bottom of the grill to create a consistent temperature.
Leave a gap, and pour lit coals at the beginning of the snake.
Place your foil packet on top of the lit coals.
Put a water pan in the middle to create humidity for the meat. It will also catch some of the drippings.
