Just a stone’s throw away in Escondido, CA, the Stone Brewing Co. was founded in 1996, and has been a San Diego mainstay for 17 years. It is the largest craft brewery in Southern California, and the 10th largest in the United States, specializing in bold-flavored beers that are generally higher in hops and alcohol content. That’s never a bad thing…. 😉
Stone’s flagship varietal, Stone Pale Ale, was an original release; a Southern California take on the classic British ale. Deep amber in color, this beer is a robust – and a full-flavored – interpretation of the traditional style! Its bold malt character is perfectly complemented by a judicious amount of hops, lending it a subtle, yet enticing aroma.
All of beers can be enjoyed at the beautiful Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens, a 300+ seat restaurant on-site that features a large outdoor patio and serves a rotating menu of eclectic food—concentrating on organic, free-range and local ingredients.
If you’re ever in the area, be sure to visit for a fresh meal and brewery tour, or just sit and sip on a delicious craft beer in Stone’s one-acre sustainable garden. Either way, you’ll be impressed our ‘Brewery of the Month’ for July!
Stone has won a total of six medals at the Great American Beer Festival competitions in 2000, 2006, 2007, and 2010. They have also won three medals in World Beer Cup competition in 2006, 2008, and 2010.
