Everyone deserves a Valentine — especially these folks!
Recruit family, friends and co-workers for the 4th Annual Valentines for Veterans on Thursday, January 30, 6 to 9 pm. The event combines local beer, local food and caring Houstonians to craft Valentines and raise money for those who have served the country.
It began as a simple idea – Valentines for Soldiers – to show appreciation for their service. This year, the event takes on a new name, Valentines for Veterans, in order to show gratitude to the men and women who have served our country, and highlight the work being done to support them!
Anyone can submit the address of a veteran to receive a Valentine via a form on the official website, www.valentinesforsoldiers.com.
Last year’s event (2013) included family members of active duty soldiers, veterans, first-time brewery visitors as well as avid fans of craft beers, amateur bakers, and a myriad valentine-makers of all ages. Join the fun!
Saint Arnold Brewery, 2000 Lyons Ave (77020)
Cost of admission for the event is $10, with $5 of each ticket going directly to the partner organizations.
- A bake sale, featuring sweet and savory items from some of Houston’s best pastry chefs and home bakers. There will be plenty of goodies to enjoy with beer at the event and to take home for later. All proceeds will also be donated. Cash and credit cards accepted.
- Craft tables will be set up so that you can get creative and make valentines to send to veterans! Donations of craft supplies are always appreciated!
- Food Trucks: Two of Houston’s best — H Town StrEATS & Fraiche Mobile Kitchen — will be outside in the parking lot, ready to feed you! They are generously donating 5% of their proceeds to the event beneficiaries.
