The timing couldn’t be better! We’re rolling right into the holidays with delicious Creole comfort food from award-winning chef, John Besh, who returns to Lüke San Antonio on Thursday, November 19!
In addition to hearty holiday offerings for Thanksgiving, Lüke will also welcome Chef Besh for a special ‘cookbook party’ celebrating the launch of his latest book, Besh Big Easy: 101 Home-Cooked New Orleans Recipes:
Chef Besh has teamed up with Chef John Russ to host an evening of food, cocktails and live music at Lüke San Antonio. Alongside a New Orleans-style brass band, the Lüke team will serve up tastings from the cookbook. More details on that below!
In the meantime, Chef Besh shared a few recipes from the book in advance with Goodtaste. Our current fave is his Mamma’s Bread Pudding [top] dressed in a decadent hot buttered rum sauce…Lawd have mercy!
John’s White Squash & Shrimp Soup is an edible ode to his grandmother. She made her soup from scratch quite often. This light, heartwarming dish combines southern heirloom cushaw squash with wild brown shrimp:
Getting the roux just right makes all this difference with Mamma’s Seafood Gumbo from Chef Besh. He achieves that deep shellfish flavor from cooking the crabs at least 45 minutes before adding the other seafood. Serve over white rice:
