Pick a side, even if it’s just for the day, and settle in for what looks to be classic game in the making! Super Bowl 50 is a landmark year for the sport and we’re toasting to the occasion with color themed cocktails for the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers.
Fans of Cam Newton’s cool blue Panthers will love this refreshing Blue Julep [above] made with seltzer water, fresh mint ice cubes, muddled blueberries and the Moscato of your choice. It’s a twist on a traditional minut julep, which usually calls for bourbon. This here’s a sweeter take for us southerners. 🙂
On that note, this Blueberry Mojito comes together in just a few shakes, strained into a tall Collins glass. A berry good rum drink that bleeds Carolina blue!
This Blood Orange Bronco is the julep’s crafty counterpart; a Pinot Grigio based libation with freshly squeezed blood orange juice, soda water, Campari (a bitter, sweet and spicy liqueur) and a sugary simply syrup. Feel free seal the deal with wheels of sliced blood oranges…juicy as all get out:
I’m pulling for Peyton myself. Can you imagine? It could be the storybook ending for such an iconic athlete. Break out the good stuff for this Spicy Sangre Orange Margarita:
FYI, “Sangre” translates to “blood” in Spanish. Muddle slices of jalapeño with tequila in a shaker and combine with blood orange juice, Cointreau and fresh lime. Zesty–and unpredictable!
