I admit – beer and brisket go together beautifully. But wine fans take heart, there are some bold reds that can go head to head with your grilled meats!
One of the classic pairings for BBQ is a Zinfandel, that’s because full-bodied Zins are big on fruit, balanced with acidity and offer a spiciness that melds beautifully with a plate of ribs slathered in BBQ sauce.
One of my favorite go-to Zins are the always delicious selections from Ridge winery. We recently visited their gorgeous winery that sits way up high on a ridge overlooking Silicon Valley. Ridge has been a consistent producer of wonderful wines for years.
Another fun Zin you might spot on your H-E-B shelf is 1000 Stories. This wine is also delish. Easy to spot on that wine shelf, as it sports a buffalo on its label. This wine is aged in bourbon barrels, so the flavors of vanilla and caramel really shine through with the yummy fruit.
Zinfandel isn’t the only perfect pairing for BBQ. Sangria hits the spot! After all, is there anything that sangria doesn’t pair with. 😉
My go-to sangria is Eppa. They produce a white sangria that is full of fresh peach and tropical flavors and a red sangria that’s more traditional in style. Eppa sangrias are made from organic grapes and are very inexpensive. Why spend more time in the kitchen than you have to, right! Eppa does all the work for you.
