New year, new wines to find! I’m here to help you sip your way through some terrific new wine finds for 2018.
I’m always a fan of the Mumm Napa Blanc de Blanc sparkling, which pairs beautifully with lighter meals this time of year.
I recently found Becker Vineyards’ Springtime at H-E-B and it reminds me of some of the white wines you may find in the Rhone Valley, but it has a fuller body. It’s made with all Texas grapes. It pairs great with a lot of different foods and the aroma is beautiful, with lots of floral and perfume on the nose. If you’ve never visited Becker Vineyards in Fredericksburg, I highly recommend it. You’ll find Springtime for $10 at H-E-B.
This time of year, lots of us are looking for those big, full-bodied reds. The Gran Reserva Concha Y Tora Malbec fits the bill perfectly! This Chilean wine is just as good as its Napa counterparts, but costs just about $15 a bottle. You’ll taste darker fruits and a spicy finish and it’s fabulous if you’re daring enough to pull out the grill in this winter cold!
One of the best red buys out there right now is the Raymond “R Collection” Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley. It’s only about $10 a bottle. Of course, you can find all of my wine finds at H-E-B.
A special thank you to my friends at We Are Austin on KEYE-TV CBS Austin!
