If you’re on a mission to find the best Thai and Vietnamese restaurant in Austin, have I found the place for you! Explore exotic new flavors this month at Mandala Kitchen & Bar in Austin. Plus, I’ve found a few new wines for celebrating the start of May.
This stunning new spot off South Lamar has an amazing and inviting patio that’s as alluring to Austinites as their delectable dishes. I recommend starting your experience at Mandala with one of their most popular appetizers, the Mini Rice Pancakes (above) featuring turmeric rice flour, ground pork and Gulf shrimp with a drizzle of coconut sauce. They have fantastic Pho (top) with alluring aromas and a rich broth.
Since it’s crawfish season, I requested a special plate of their Mandala Crawfish (above), which is a fusion of Vietnamese and Cajun flavors. It’s served with a special Viet-Cajun seasoning, corn, red potatoes, sausage, mushrooms and tossed in a house Cajun garlic butter. You’ll also love their Black Mussels Curry with a savory red curry sauce, coconut milk, fresh lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. It’s served with a classic garlic butter toast.
Don’t forget the wine! You’ll love all these dishes with some fabulous wine finds, just for spring!
